News on Copyright

Good news: I’ve heard from the US Copyright office.

Bad news: I don’t have my copyright yet.

They wanted to clarify something about the copyright being held in my pen name or my legal name.

But I heard from them, I responded, and I’m hoping that I’ll have the certificate by the end of January, you know, accounting for the holidays and whatnot.

So the lesson for today is even though the forms for this are fairly quick and clear be VERY careful, because you don’t want to delay or jeopardize your copyright, because if you don’t respond promptly when they contact you… they throw out the request and you have to pay the $35 all over to try again. BE CAREFUL and when you mark down how you wish to be contact if there are concerns, be sure it’s an email or phone number at which you can be reached at at any time.
