Here’s What’s Going On

So, if you’ve been reading my recent posts (AND THERE ARE MANY), you will know that my literary life is more or less slowed to an almost-halt because of two things: NaNoWriMo and the impending end of the semester.

All right, so my NaNo book is coming to about its halfway mark, which is promising. As a result of this, my novella-writing has come to a screeching halt for this month. Understandable, and I needed to step back from Not All That Glimmers anyway.

As far as my fan fiction, it’s still going strong, although not as strong as I would have liked. And of course, I’m never writing fast enough for my hardcore fans, but that’s why I love them.

Natalie’s got a lot of my stuff in editing, and E. M. and I are still working out the kinks of the re-writing of Maybe I Know. The other thing that I’ve decided is that I’m going to take one of my A Song of Ice and Fire fan fictions (not the SanxSan) as a bit of an inspiration for a story talking about the taboo of incestuous passion (brother-sister). Should be fun. I haven’t figured out anything else as a premise, so if you’ve got something you think would be a good read, let me know!

Cheers,

  1. Hmmmmm…incest. I heard of a brother-sister story once. The family had an older daughter and son, around the same slightly older teen age, and like two or three very young things, practically toddlers. Anyway, for some reason, the parents died and all the siblings were trapped in the house for a very long period of time, like a year + or something. The older brother and sister were acting as parents for the toddlers in combination with not-being-able-to-get-laid-at-all-because-we’re-stuck-in-the-house and that led to sexual tension. I don’t remember if it was actually consummated….There’s also the classic literature King Arthur/Oedipus move of sleeping with someone and finding out later that you’re related. In history, there’s always the Pharaohs and Ptolemies who had sister-wives, and there’s some excellent, heartrending laments over sister-wife deaths.
I don’t know if this is helpful at all, but I’m here if you want to throw ideas at someone and/or have ideas thrown at you.
