Firstly, let me say that NaNo has been good to me this month thus far, WHICH IS GREAT because I’ve got four papers to write and finals right around the corner. When your semester ends in the beginning of December, YOU ARE CRAZY TO DO NANO.
But we already knew that I was nuts.
So I’ve gotten more than halfway to 50k (I’m at 32k), and the little chart thing tells me that I’m due to finish in FIVE DAYS. Well, to hit 50k in five days. I’ve already got a hundred pages, which is nice. The working title for this is To the End of the Earth. For those of you who were interested. It’s the sequel to To the Death, which I finished in June and is in its second round of edits. My next novella, which now has a working title of Not All that Glimmers (which Natalie Cannon suggested because the old one was too wordy), is on hold until NaNo is over because my sanity can only handle so much. I’m about eight chapters into my NaNo project, and that’s out of 21 chapters, so not quite halfway that way. WHICH IS GOOD because I want it to be more than 65k words.
On related news, I’ve got the third book in the trilogy mapped out… Not as many chapters, but I’m thinking they’ll be longer, and there’s a fairly long epilogue. AND more deaths than chapters. I mean, c’mon, we’re dealing with overthrowing a dystopian society. There’s going to be a surplus of deaths in the last book. BUT, if death isn’t your cup of tea, I will also announce that there shall be a wedding! I hate writing weddings, so I shall swallow my distaste for my lovely readers who deserve a bit of happy mixed in with their heart-wrenching tragedy. It’s the least I can do, really.
So I’ll keep you all updated on my NaNo experiences, as always. If you’re joining me on this journey of NaNoWriMo… how is your month going so far? Any stories to share?
